Welcome

Life is a journey of ebbs and flows.

I don't have to tell you, you're living it.

But with that journey comes life's lessons and if we are wise, we will apply it, to learn and heal for the next phase or season of our lives.

We generate new roots from a lesson learned (wisdom) that we thought depleted us, but in fact it gave us what we needed to hydrate, sprout, and be infused with the right nutrients to thrive once again.

Join us, as we explore the "als" experiences of life, mental, spiritual, physical, relational, personal, professional, . . .

"The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image but giving them the opportunity to create themselves." - Unknown

"Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them.” – Timothy Gallwey

In Toastmasters one of my fellow members in his speech mentioned the importance of having a mentor and a coach; and establishing an understanding of their role and responsibility. He went on to explain how his mentor allows him to ask questions, seek advice, is his sounding board, and provides guidance and support. His coach challenges him with specific goals, asks him questions and implores him to seek out information, resources, and establish the best plan of action. His coach then inquires as to the progress of the executed plan and the lessons learned.

This speech was a light bulb moment for me. Throughout my life I've admired specific individuals in how they showed up in the workplace or life and sought guidance, support, or insight from them, only to become frustrated with the outcome. Then blaming or keeping them at arm's length because I didn't receive what I was seeking. Wow!! How self-absorbed was I to think I could extract golden nuggets from someone without expressing my expectations or collaborating with them as to the dynamic of the relationship?

After that speech I realized how much mentor and coach are sometimes used interchangeably; without considering they have completely different meanings. My fellow toastmaster's speech prompted me to reflect on my current journey and what I was in need of a mentor, a coach or both, and why.
